John Wayne
John Wayne, (born 1907, died 1979) was an Academy Awards winning iconic film actor, popularly known as the “Duke”. Beginning his career in silent movies in the 1920s, he became a major film star from the 1940s up until his death in the 1970s.
But he was more than just an actor. Through years his popularity and influence grew so much that he became an enduring icon that symbolized American values and ideals. Wayne recognized this and started selecting roles that would not compromise his off-screen larger-than-life image, seeking to keep his reputation and prepetuate the view of himself as someone who embodied all the values of a true American.
When it came to war movie he was THE hero, his status growing so large that he became the symbol of the american army to his countrymen.
All this led to various public locations being named in memory of him and he was also awarded Congressional Gold Medal and Presidential Medal of Freedom, two highest civilian decorations awarded by the United States government.
Jane Fonda
Jane Fonda (born 1937) is a two-time Academy Award-winning American actress, writer, political activist, former fashion model, and fitness guru.
She began her acting in the theatre in the 1950s, which laid the foundation for her film career in the 1960s. During the 1960s she made on average two movies a years, making her breakthrough with “Cat Ballou” a western comedy. She has  won several awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Actress.
In 1968 she starred in “Barbarella”, a role that would establish her status as a universal sex symbol.
During the 60s she engaged in political activism, supporting the Civil Rights Movement and opposing the Vietnam War. She was also actively involved in the feminist movement.
Warren Beatty
Warren Beatty (born 1937) is an actor, producer, screenwriter and director. He has won several Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
His first film role was in “Splendor in the Grass” which did not gain him the critical acclaim he desired. Several years later he became famous for his role in “Bonnie and Clyde”, which became a blockbuster. The movie's powerful performances, strong direction and controversially graphic violence made it a huge hit, and Beatty finally found himself taken seriously.
Warren is almost as famous for his love life as he is for his movie-making, having been connected with a galaxy of beautiful starlets.
Elizabeth Taylor
Elizabeth Taylor (born 1932) is an iconic Academy Award-winning actress. Known for acting skill and beauty but also for her many marriages., Taylor’s trademark are her violet eyes.
She is considered both one of the greatest actresses and a larger-than-life celebrity and also one of the last major stars to have come out of the old Hollywood studio system
She started acting at the age of nine and in 1963 she became the highest paid actress at the time when she accepted the role in “Cleopatra” which earned her one million dollars.
Aside from her major roles onscreen, she gained worldwide attention off-screen, most notably due to a succession of famous and/or rich husbands and a series of health crises throughout her life.
Sean Connery
Sean Connery (born 1930) is Academy Award-winning actor.
He is best known for his portrayal of James Bond, his trademark Scottish accent and rugged good looks. Although his most famous role was that of Bond, Sean Connery has also maintained a successful career since, much more so than any of the other actors who assumed the role. A genuine movie star, his co-stars often complement his professionalism and he continues to be at his best when he plays no-nonsense characters.
Dennis Hopper
Dennis Hopper (born 1936) is an actor and film-maker. He made his acting debut in television and then played supporting roles in two movies with James Dean.
When he directed and starred in “Easy Rider” he became one of the most popular and sought-after actors in Hollywood. Usually cast as villain, he appeared both in American and European films. Another of his memorable roles were in “Apocalypse Now” and “Blue Velvet”.
As well as his acting/directing talents, Hopper is a skilled photographer and painter, having had his works displayed in galleries in both the US and overseas. He is additionally a dedicated and knowledgeable collector of modern art and has one of the most extensive collections in the US.
